Students at Swainsboro Primary School enjoyed a special story time with U.S. Congressman Rick Allen during Georgia Pre-K Week, which celebrates early childhood education statewide.

While visiting, Congressman Allen read Every Amazing Song by Coy Bowles and Malcolm Mitchell to the Pre-K students. Each Pre-K student in Emanuel County Schools will get a copy of this book through the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning’s free book program. Students listened as Congressman Allen read the story aloud, bringing the book’s message to life. At the end of the visit, everyone sang the ABC song together.

Georgia Pre-K Week shows how important quality learning is and gives leaders and officials a chance to visit classrooms, meet students, and see the learning happening in Emanuel County’s Pre-K program.

“Having Congressman Allen join us for Georgia Pre-K Week was such a special experience for our students,” said Meghan Simonin, Director of Emanuel County Pre-K and Early Head Start. “Our children love when someone new comes into the classroom to read with them, and it was wonderful to see their excitement as they listened to the story and sang together. These moments are a great reminder that building a love of reading starts early, and it truly takes our whole community to support our youngest learners.”

Through reading, singing, and classroom activities, Pre-K students develop skills that help them grow academically and personally.

Congressman Allen’s visit showed how important it is to spend time with young learners and to recognize the educators who help set them up for future success.
