Under New Business, upcoming vacancies on various boards and agencies were discussed with three vacant positions on the Board of Tax Assessors requiring imminent appointment. Applications are now being sought from interested parties. All vacancies on county boards and authorities are listed online on county websites and applications for those positions may be completed online as well. Next, under New Business was consideration of an agreement for road usage responsibility and understanding between a new business coming to the county and the road department of Emanuel County. In an effort to ensure responsible use of county roadways, commissioners approved the creation of an agreement to provide surety for the county with respect to condition of public roads during construction or periods of excessive wear by the new company.
In the meeting's final agenda item, commissioners discussed the need for acquisition of a Roll-Off Truck to aid in collection and transport of refuse in the county. The vehicle discussed would make handling larger containers significantly more efficient in the process of keeping waste disposal under control at collection sites and other areas throughout the County. Following consideration, a motion was made to move forward with the purchase of the new Roll-Off Truck at a price of $231,500. The motion was unanimously agreed to.
Following this, a motion was made and agreed to for adjournment.
