Commissioner Thompson speaks to Veterans

The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Calvary Methodist Church Monday morning, March 30, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 49 in attendance. The mission committee at Calvary Methodist Church furnished breakfast consisting of biscuits, sausage gravy, jelly, grits, assorted fruits, muffins and coffee. Librarian Shari Watt furnished orange juice, grape juice, and cranberry juice. Chair Johnny talked about the upcoming Veterans Cup Golf Tournament and the selling of the "hole" sponsorships. He then talked about the 40 service members that the Veterans are flying a U.S. Flag on the front fence at the Veterans and 1st Responders Memorial Park. Chair Johnny then introduced Commissioner Ricky Thompson who talked about all that Emanuel County is responsible for in maintaining the County and the ongoing developments. County Administrator Guy Singletary talked to the veterans about the progress of the John C. Coleman Hotel. The contractors should start framing up the basement and four floors by May of this year. Guy stated that as soon as it is complete, all the county offices will move in all five floors.
