Citizens Bank of Swainsboro recently presented Emanuel Medical Center with a donation totaling $200,000. The contribution, made through the Georgia HEART Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program, will bolster essential hospital services and aid in the expansion of EMC’s Emergency Department.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to Citizens Bank of Swainsboro for their remarkable con-tribution,” said EMC’s Director of Development, Lynn Brinson. “Their continued support of Emanuel Medical Center is a true testament to their unwavering commitment to our com-munity.”

Georgia HEART (Helping Enhance Access to Rural Treatment) offers a unique opportunity for individuals and businesses to redirect their Georgia income tax dollars to qualifying hos-pitals. Emanuel Medical Center stands among 54 rural Georgia hospitals eligible to benefit from this program.

“As a business that is deeply rooted in our community, we are honored to support the inval-uable services provided by Emanuel Medical Center. This contribution reflects our commit-ment to the health and prosperity of our neighbors and underscores the importance of work-ing together to support access to quality healthcare in rural Georgia,” said Milton Gray, Pres-ident of Citizens Bank of Swainsboro.

Citizens Bank has been a longstanding supporter of Emanuel Medical Center and a contribu-tor through Georgia HEART since the program’s inception in 2017. Funds received through Georgia HEART make a lasting impact and have been used locally to update essential medi-cal and surgical equipment, add colonoscopy and infusion services, purchase a state-of-the-art 3D mammography unit, and make much-needed updates to the Emanuel County Nurs-ing Home.

“We are grateful for community partners such as Citizens Bank, whose generous support enables Emanuel Medical Center to uphold the highest standards of care for our patients, both now and in the future,” said Damien Scott, CEO of Emanuel Medical Center.

EMC is one of only nine Georgia hospitals to currently hold the Five Star Quality Rating, the highest accolade awarded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). In addi-tion, the facility was recently named the #2 Small Hospital in the state by Georgia Trend Mag-azine.

Georgia HEART empowers any business or individual with Georgia income tax liability to keep their tax dollars local through a contribution to Emanuel Medical Center.
