Twenty-eight students, eager to learn new cooking skills while competing with their peers, attended the 4-day Chopped Jr class hosted by Family Connection. The young chefs learned how to make basic dishes like scrambled eggs in the microwave and fruit smoothies along with detailed dishes like lattice topped pies. A favorite competition was creating Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head from fresh fruits and vegetables that required the students to use safe knife skills.
At the end of the week each student received a customized chef apron and hat along with a new smoothie maker. The project could not have happened without the work of our great adult helpers- Petite Garrett, Keri Henderson, Sunny Rogers, and Deivion Davis. We would also like to thank our volunteer judges, Matt Jarrell, Rachel Burkhaulter, Olivia Golden, Tracie Everett, and Thomas Hancock. A special thank you to Ann Rogers for making our Chef aprons and to the Mill Creek Foundation for funding Emanuel Chopped Jr 2026!
