Tomlinson Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Charles Albert "Al" Woods, age 79, of Macon, on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. Funeral services will be private. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 20, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home.

Mr. Woods was born March 21, 1943, to the late Daniel Benjamin and Bina Lucile Smith Woods. He referred to himself as a “Newspaper Man”, beginning his career in the newspaper business at his hometown newspaper, the Swainsboro Forest Blade. Throughout his career, he also worked with the Savannah Morning News, and finally retiring from the Macon Telegraph after 42 years. Al loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR racing and golf. He was particularly fond of bowling, and was the founder of the Macon Telegraph bowling team. Mr. Woods deeply loved his family, especially his grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Marvye Norris Woods of Macon; three daughters, Charyl, Kecia, and Treva; son-in-law, Tommy Veal; three grandsons who he was very proud of, Matthew Norris Veal, James Nicholas McGouirk, and Jacob Patrick McGouirk.

Tomlinson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
