On Monday, December 18, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Swainsboro Police Officers were dispatched to an address on North Racetrack Street in reference to shots being fired. Upon officers’ arrival, information was given that an individual had in fact been shot and was transported to Emanuel Medical Center. As patrol was securing the scene, detectives responded to the emergency room to determine the condition of the victim, Aaron Sonny Pierce, age 22, of Dublin. Pierce was subsequently pronounced dead as a result of a gunshot wound. The victim’s family was notified. Additional officers that were responding to the Racetrack address were able to apprehend an individual following a foot pursuit. Swainsboro Police Department has a person of interest in custody; Tydreke Santele Jacobe Carlton, age 18, of Swainsboro. An investigation of the incident is ongoing by the Swainsboro Police Department, and no other information is available for release at this time.
