Mr. Carl Emmitte Jones, 75, of Swainsboro, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at his residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 27, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Dowless officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, at Chapman Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Eddie Hodges, Justin Jones, Wyatt Jones, Cason Finch and Cael Finch.
Mr. Jones was born August 26, 1948, in Swainsboro, to the late Alvin Jones and Mary Evelyn Martin Jones. Carl started a paper route at the age of 12. He worked for years in the retail business with Allied Clothing Store. Later, Carl worked with Farmers Furniture. He also worked as a tax consultant with JK Harris where he later retired in Charleston. After retire-ment, Carl moved back home to Swainsboro and worked with the Emanuel County Board of Education as a bus driver. He enjoyed spending time boating at the lake. Carl loved to do carpentry work. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog football fan. Carl was a member of the Swainsboro Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 47 years, Brenda Hall Jones.
Mr. Jones is survived by his son, Greg E. Jones of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Justin Jones (Ashley) of Forsyth and Brittney Jones of Grovetown; great-grandchildren, Lisa Jones, Wyatt Jones, Colt Jones, Danielle Jones, Kyla Finch, Cason Finch, Cael Finch and Camden Finch; sister, Jewell Johnson (Hugh) of Swainsboro; special nephew, Steven Johnson of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
