The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro held its weekly meeting, Tuesday night, September 2, 2025, at the Rustic Grille at 6:30. With President Paul Cerpovicz presiding, they had 16 in attendance including guest, Karolina Cerpovicz, Joelle Romanchik-Cerpovicz, Carolyn Canady, and Christie Canady. Dianna Wedincamp won the raspberry cake and Wanda Ellis won the Domino’s pizza donated by Domino's Pizza. Two jars of red pepper jelly, provided by Joelle Romanchik-Cerpovicz, were won by Dianna Wedincamp and Tim Goodman.
The program for the evening was hosted by Edwin Canady and was presented by Christie Canady, Associate Professor of Biology at Middle Georgia State University at Cochran and Dublin. Christie teaches Human Anatomy and Physiology (HAP) among other upper division biology courses. Focusing on the parts of the human body, Christie presented the Club with a hands-on quiz using models she uses in her HAP classes. Among other things, they learned about the pineal gland in the brain that produces and regulates hormones that help us to sleep and the “funny bone” located at the end of the humerus in the elbow joint.
Deana Patrick reported on an event at the Franklin Memorial Library. On October 9, there will be a Trunk-or-Treat from 3 – 5 p.m. at the library. The Kiwanis Club will participate in the event.
President Cerpovicz talked about the status of the Little Free Library (LFL) project, with Bobbie Daughtry’s now located in Summertown. They are looking for a location for Jeff Palmer’s LFL.
