Burton speaks to Four Rivers Patriots Chapter

The Four Rivers Patriots Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, held its monthly meeting, Thursday night, March 19, at Chatters Restaurant in Lyons at 6 p.m. With President Joel Keener presiding, they had 15 in attendance. After the invocation, President Joel led the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the SAR. Joel then asked East Fall Line Region Vice President Dess Smith to introduce the speaker for the evening, Compatriot Allen Burton of the Washington Wilkes Chapter in Washington, GA, to present his program on "Banastre Tarleton". Allen retired from the U.S. Army as a LTC, and he is a Vietnam Veteran, and works full time at Augusta State University as a History Professor. President Joel then called on Dan Brown for a special presentation and he presented Sgt.-at-Arms Dan Brown with the chapter flag streamer for Dan presenting the chapter wreath at the 247th Anniversary Celebration of the Battle at Brier Creek on February 28, 2026. President Joel then asked a member of the chapter to lead the Chapter in the SAR Recessional and the benediction. The next meeting will be Thursday night, April 16, at Chatters Restaurant at 6 p.m.
