Burke speaks to Four Rivers Patriots Chapter

The Four Rivers Patriots Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution held its monthly meeting Thursday night, April 16, at Chatters Restaurant in Lyons at 6p.m. With President Joel Keener presiding, we had 20 in attendance. After the invocation by Chaplain Emory Fennell, President Joel led us in the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the SAR. Joel then asked East Fall Line Region Vice President Dess Smith to introduce our speaker for the evening, Compatriot Steve Burke of the Wiregrass Chapter in Swainsboro, to present his program on "Colonial Survival".

President Joel then called on Dan Brown to come forward for a special presentation. Joel then presented Sgt.-at-Arms Dan Brown with the Ned Shuman Chapter Distinguished Service Medal as the Four Rivers Patriots Chapter Compatriot of the year for 2025. President Joel then asked Vidalia Mayor Doug Roper to come forward and receive the Four Rivers Patriots Bronze Good Citizenship Medal for his outstanding service to the City of Vidalia during Hurricane Helena. Steve Burke, Renee Burke, Dess Smith III, Lee Herron, Emory Fennell, Joyce Fennell, Bill Carmichael and Linda Carmichael were also in attendance. President Joel then asked a member of the chapter to lead the Chapter in the SAR Recessional and the benediction. Our next meeting will be Thursday night, May 21, at Chatters Restaurant at 6 p.m.
