“I’m very fortunate to be in my current position to enter retirement and am very thankful for my employment with the Emanuel County Schools System. It has been an enjoyable seven years, but I feel as if this decision is best for me and my family and it’s time to make this next step. Swainsboro is a great community with great people, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure as Swainsboro Middle School principal,” Dr. Gibson stated.

In other action subsequent to the executive session at the February 28th meeting, board members unanimously approved the appointment of Manzie Broxton as Swainsboro Middle School principal effective July 1, 2022. "I am grateful for all of the knowledge and skills that I have gained during my tenure at ECI, and I look forward to using them to serve the students and staff of Swainsboro Middle School," says Broxton in regard to his new role with Emanuel County Schools.

Taking over Broxton's former duties as assistant principal for Emanuel County Institute will be SMS Assistant Principal David Miller. Currently, Miller serves as one of two assistant principals for Swainsboro Middle School, with Angela Young being the other. Miller's transfer will be effective July 1, 2022.

“We are very excited to have Mr. Miller join our team at ECI. We are confident that he will bring a fresh perspective to our students and staff. Mr. Broxton has played a pivotal role at ECI over the past few years. While this loss is tremendous to us, we are eager to gain the expertise that Mr. Miller will bring to our team,” ECI Principal Edenfield commented.
