Swainsboro High School senior Jayson Brown recently signed a commitment to attend Georgia Southern University. He received four renewable scholarships from the Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music (GSOM) and is pursuing a degree in music education. Among the many accolades, Jayson received over his school career, the biggest and most recent was being named the number one alto saxophone player in the state of Georgia. Lindy Sikes, band director, is so excited that Jayson is going to be attending his own beloved alma mater. He brags, “Jayson is a great musician, but he is ten times better as a person, and I am so proud of him.”

A signing ceremony was held in the Media Center. Joining Jayson were his mother, Kenyatti Brown, father, Jason Brown, sister, Nylah Brown, SHS Band Director Lindy Sikes, SMS Band Director Gene Hundley, SHS teachers, administrators, counselor, and his SHS band mates.
