The Emanuel County Board of Education met on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at the Central Office with the following members in attendance: John Allen Bailey, Del Brown, Cherie Hooks, Brandon Jones, Tanya Lane, Johnny Parker and Sandra Swinney. Chairman Del Brown welcomed everyone calling the meeting to order. Johnny Parker then delivered the invocation followed by Sandra Swinney leading the Pledge of Allegiance. A motion was made by John Allen Bailey to amend the agenda to include Item VIII.c. Superintendent’s Evaluation. Johnny Parker seconded. John Allen Bailey, Del Brown, Cherie Hooks, Brandon Jones, Tanya Lane, Johnny Parker and Sandra Swinney voted “yes”. CARRIED. Brandon Jones made a motion to approve the amended agenda. Sandra Swinney seconded. John Allen Bailey, Del Brown, Cherie Hooks, Brandon Jones, Tanya Lane, Johnny Parker and Sandra Swinney voted “yes”. CARRIED.

GSBA Safety Grant – Jansen Ware – This grant was awarded to the School Nutrition Department in the amount of $4,160 for non-slip shoes for school nutrition employees in the kitchens.

The 2024 proposed BOE meeting dates calendar was presented by Scotty Hattaway.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – Winola Smith, Mayor of Adrian, spoke on awarding the old Adrian school building to the Emanuel County Day Program, LLC. Marcel Duonis, Susan Morca and Jason Bennett also spoke on behalf of the Adrian School bidding process.
APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA
The Board approved the consent agenda with six “yes” votes and one “no” vote.
