Mr. Bobby Lee Alphin, 86, of Swainsboro, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at Piedmont Augusta Hospital following an extended illness. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at a later date.

Mr. Alphin was born on July 3, 1937, in Kinston, NC, to the late Albert Abraham Alphin and Elizabeth Ward Alphin. He was a member of the United States Navy and served as a member of the medical specialist of the Department of Defense Bioastronautics Task Force, Patrick Air Force Base, FL. The Task Force supported manned space flight operations of Project Gemini Missions GT-3, GT-4 and GT-5 and the task force specialists were required at the launch site aboard fleet recovery vessels. Mr. Alphin loved his family and his country and served them with great passion. His passion for animals, NASCAR, and overall zest for life and adventure will be remembered by all who love him. Mr. Alphin is preceded in death by his parents; three infant sons; two sisters, Ruby Langston of Kinston, NC and Eloise A. Hall of Wesley; three brothers, Trent Alphin of Mableton, Gene Alphin of Charlotte, NC and Durwood Alphin of Kinston, NC; niece, Linda Carol Jones of Grifton, NC; and nephew, Trent Alphin Jr.

Mr. Alphin is survived by his companion, Sandra Hale, of Swainsboro, sister, Eva Ward Alphin Spence of Kinston, NC; nephews, Phil (Debbie) Alphin of Simpsonville, SC, Albert (Ginger) Hall of Swainsboro, Ricky Spence (LanDing) of Emerald Isle, NC, Lester Spence of New Bern, NC, Ed (Kay) Alphin of Myrtle Beach, SC, Martin Alphin and Bill Rhodes, both of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Ginger Powell of Seneca, SC and Pamela (John) North of Wilmington, NC; and several other family members and friends.
