Board of Education holds monthly meeting

The Emanuel County Board of Education met on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at Swainsboro Primary School with the following members in attendance: Brandon Jones, Cherie Hooks, Del Brown, and John Allen Bailey and Tanya Lane. Board Chair Del Brown welcomed everyone calling the meeting to order and delivering the invocation, He asked everyone to take a moment of silence to honor the late Johnny Parker. John Allen Bailey asked everyone to take a moment of silence to honor Barrow County Schools fallen and then led the Pledge of Allegiance. John Allen Bailey made a motion to approve the agenda. Tanya Lane seconded the motion. Del Brown, Tanya Lane, Cherie Hooks, Brandon Jones, and John Allen Bailey voted “yes”. CARRIED.

SUPERINTENDENT’S COMMENTS

Dr. Warnock welcomed everyone and thanked them for their time. She acknowledged the loss of former Board member Johnny Parker and expressed her gratitude for his years of service. Dr. Warnock took a moment to address the tragedy in Barrow County and discussed how very personal school safety is for everyone. She thanked the BOE for making safety measures such as our crisis alert system available to all employees throughout the district and thanked them for their partnership with the Emanuel County Sheriff Department which provides our School Resource Officers. She further stated the allocation of resources for these, and other safety measures demonstrates their commitment to student and staff safety.
