Swainsboro High School student Bella Blanford is heading to the national stage after earning top honors in a recent Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) competition.

Blanford competed in the Digital Stories for Change STAR Event, presenting a digital storytelling project focused on meaningful issues and positive change. Her performance ranked among the nation’s best, earning her a place at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference this summer in Washington, D.C.

STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) allow FCCLA members to demonstrate leadership, career readiness, and community involvement through Family and Consumer Sciences projects.

Blanford’s project stood out for its creativity, thoughtful message, and effective use of digital media to communicate an important story. Her achievement reflects the dedication and effort she has invested in developing both her leadership skills and her commitment to making a difference.

“Bella put a tremendous amount of time, creativity, and heart into this project,” said FCCLA advisor Mrs. Kelli Mendieta. “Her ability to tell a meaningful story through digital media and connect it to real issues is truly impressive. We are incredibly proud of her and excited to see her represent Swainsboro High School on the national stage.”

Representing Swainsboro High School and her FCCLA chapter at the national level is a significant accomplishment. Qualifying students compete with top FCCLA members nationwide and participate in leadership workshops and networking opportunities.

The Swainsboro High School community is proud of Blanford’s success and looks forward to her representing the school and community this summer in Washington, D.C.
