Bill Harvey Farris, age 86, of Twin City, passed away Friday evening, April 24, 2026, at his residence. Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at Scarboro Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, in Metter.
Bill was born June 30, 1939, to the late Willie Lee Roay Farris and Addie Brigham Farris. He was a devoted member of Scarboro Baptist Church. In his early years, Bill worked for Maxwell House and later spent 30 years working as a millwright with RockTenn in Fernandina Beach before retiring. Following his retirement, he and his wife, Thelma, made their home in Twin City, where they resided for the remainder of his life. Bill enjoyed bowling, hunting, and fishing, and he will be remembered for his hardworking nature and love of the outdoors. In addition to his parents, Mr. Farris is preceded in death by several siblings and two sons, Barry and Kemp.
Mr. Farris is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Odom Farris of Twin City; sons, David Smith of Twin City, Richard Lowary and Edwin Farris, both of Yulee, Florida; daughters, Donna Farris of Yulee, Florida and Sheryl Applegate of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Jerry Farris; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, of Metter, is in charge of arrangements.
