Barbara Lanier Stephens, 75

Barbara Lanier Stephens, age 75, of Swainsboro, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, at her residence. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 5, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Harrell officiating. Interment followed at Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter. Family received friends Thursday, March 5, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Johnny Scott, Dwight Singletary, Ashley L. Powell, Nathan Singletary, Jonathan Scott, Logan Creamer and Allen Lanier.

Barbara was born September 14, 1950, in Twin City, to the late Doyle Tyson Lanier, Sr. and Dorothy Allene Neal Lanier. She was a part of the class of 1968 from Metter High School. Barbara was also a hard and dedicated worker as she worked at Citizen's Bank of Swainsboro for 18 years, until retirement. She was a faithful Christian as she was a member of Baptist Rest Primitive Baptist Church since her teenage years.

Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed watching westerns and eating hot fudge sundaes. Barbara was always the happiest when all her family were together. She loved flowers, red roses were her favorite. Mrs. Stephens is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tyson Lanier; sister, Shirley Chance.

Survivors include her daughter, Joni Jones; granddaughter, Faith Jones; husband, Donnie Stephens, all of Swainsboro; sisters, Becky Powell of Twin City, Donna Scott (Johnny), both of Twin City and Debbie Singletary (Dwight) of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of arrangements.
