Rooted in agricultural and proud textile traditions of Swainsboro, America Knits stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of Southern manufacturing. Founded in 2019 by lifelong friends Steve Hawkins and Dr. David Talton, America Knits was born from a vision to breathe new life into American apparel manufacturing. Their goal: to build a company that not only delivers quality apparel but also fosters a safe, positive, and community-oriented workplace in Emanuel County.

"We wanted to bring more manufacturing jobs to this community and create a place where people feel valued and empowered," said Steve Hawkins, co-founder and CEO. "It’s about more than just making shirts; it’s about making a difference right here in Swainsboro.

Today, America Knits’ has a dedicated team of 75 skilled employees, who proudly craft and produce premium-quality tees, sweatshirts, and polos for both their own brand, Seeds2Seams, and a range of national clients, including the United States Postal Service (USPS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). With integrity at the core of their mission and sustainability at the heart of their operations, they deliver some of the nation’s most sustainable apparel through a fully domestic supply chain designed to minimize environmental impact at every stage, and they are proud to be made in America.

"From day one, we committed ourselves to ethical manufacturing and sustainability," Hawkins explained. "Our Seeds2Seams brand is made entirely in the U.S., supporting American farmers and minimizing our environmental impact every step of the way."

What truly distinguishes America Knits is its core values, centered on continuous growth, ongoing development, and nurturing a supportive, family-like atmosphere, which shine through in its genuine commitment to its employees.

“Employees are not just workers; they are family.” Hawkins emphasized, "Our team is the heart of America Knits. We invest in our people because when they succeed, our whole community succeeds."

That spirit is woven into every garment that leaves their factory. While America Knits is deeply committed to its employees, the company is equally dedicated to Swainsboro and the surrounding communities, supporting initiatives such as Wounded Warriors and East Georgia FCA, and participating in programs that make a positive impact. As proud members of the Emanuel County Chamber, the company recognizes the vital role of local support in its success and continually strives to give back to the people they serve.

"This community has given us so much," Hawkins said. "We’re passionate about giving back, whether it’s through local initiatives or lending a hand to our neighbors in need."

Looking ahead, America Knits is focused on growth by expanding capacity, strengthening sustainable practices, and creating even more job opportunities in Swainsboro. Their unwavering commitment to quality, community, and sustainability continues to set a shining example for American manufacturing.
