A place for togetherness: Venue on Main

The fondest memories are the ones you make when you’re surrounded by the people you cherish most. From reunions, weddings, birthdays, and all the wonderful moments in-between, time spent gathered around those you love is never wasted. Knowing this, Swainsboro natives, Jonathan and Zade Hullander, have diligently worked to create a local space where togetherness can be experienced, and timeless memories can be shared. They call it, Venue on Main.

Located at 1038 W. Main Street, in one of Swainsboro’s most historic buildings, Venue on Main was designed with an eclectic charm in mind and a dreamy exterior and interior appeal that’s sure to meet any event planners demands. The building, that once served various establishments including Dutch Tavern, M.T. Holloway’s Cafe, Immanuel Christian Fellowship, and Tinkerbells Daycare, was abandoned, and covered in kudzu when the Hollanders felt compelled to save it.

“It was covered in bushes and underbrush and the roof was caving in.” explained Zade, recalling the moment they first stepped foot on the grounds, “It had no life at all, but my husband and I have a vision and a heart to save such structures as this diamond in the rough.”

For over 25 years, the structure was left unattended and forgotten as mother nature began to reclaim it. Zade, who shared that she has childhood memories of crawling across the floors of what was once known as Tinkerbell’s Daycare, couldn’t force herself to leave it in this dilapidated state. So, the Hullanders purchased the building and transformed it into the breathtaking venue that it is today.

“It took lots of time and lots of hard work, but I have the best partner and we believe that if you want something you take the chance and go after it.” Zade said with a smile.

Being raised in a small southern town has produced a sense of closeness and hospitality within the Hullanders who find peace in restoration and breathing life in long forgotten spaces. Through this hobby, they’re reviving lost pieces of our community while also establishing a place that can be enjoyed by all for years to come.

“Along with rehabbing places that we see the potential in I also have a passion for hosting. I love to gather with family and friends and host holiday functions or just because parties. Togetherness means a lot to me, so I wanted to offer a place for our town and surrounding areas to have for their times of togetherness as well.” She explained.

The 3700 sq. foot space features exposed brick, natural lighting with views of nature and nostalgic décor, as well as an ample outdoor covered pavilion adorned with a romantic hanging chandelier that overlooks Holloway’s Pond. The venue is designed to host events of 150 or less and is the perfect place for holiday parties, birthdays, anniversaries, charity events, corporate events and meetings, weddings, showers, receptions, vow renewals and so much more.

“You’re entranced by the views of nature all the while being just off of a national highway in the city limits of our beautiful rural town of Swainsboro.” explained Zade. “We are a versatile non-exclusive venue that welcomes your creativity and allows you to bring your own vendors to create a signature look and feel.”

When booking with Venue on Main, you’re provided with 20 round tables, three rectangle tables used for serving buffet, and 150 chairs. Additionally, the Hullanders also provide set-up and break-down for your event as well as party lights, a PA system, and a projector that they include with the rental price. The Venue is rented by the hour with a 3-hour minimum and for weddings or multi day events they offer a full weekend package at one standard rate so that you can enjoy the moment without any additional stress.

“We have always loved to host family get-togethers and parties. It has always been important to me to make memories with loved ones, and I just loved the idea of opening a Venue to offer a special place for others to do this as well.” Zade shared.

A place that started out lifeless and neglected now has an ethereal beauty that radiates through from the joy that it provides for others. Because of the Hullanders it was saved and from their ambition, Venue on Main will be the birthplace of many new memories for every hopeful soul that steps through its doors.

“We take pride in bringing this unique space back to life. The Venue’s charming ambiance and high-quality amenities will make your event nothing less than perfect.” She concluded.
