A Memorial Day tribute

It was Elmer Davis that said, “This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself. Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it, it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it. On October 4, 2017, in Niger, West Africa, Army Special Forces were ambushed by ISIS and four American Soldiers lost their lives. One of the four was Staff Sergeant Dustin M. Wright who was an Emanuel County native for some-time. On May 22, Wright along with numerous other local heroes were honored in a Memorial Day Parade down the Toombs County Strip. This Memorial Day, we’re thankful for those who gave their lives while serving, like Wright. We’re thinking of those who have lost someone they love. Thank you for your sacrifice.
