Emanuel County 4-H’ers team took aim at the Georgia 4-H State Indoor Archery Championship held January 17 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, GA. Twenty-one Emanuel County 4-H Archery team members competed in four divisions: Cloverleaf Compound for 4th-6th Graders, Junior Compound for 7th-8th Graders, Senior Compound for 9th-12th Graders, and Cloverleaf Novice which is limited to recurve or universal draw length compound bows that do not have a positive draw stop or let-off. Several local youth placed well in the competition of over 700 4-H archers!
The Archery Team also held its annual county match Sunday, January 4 at the Emanuel County Livestock Barn. Winners in each division were: Cloverleaf Novice: 1st- Waylon Bell, 2nd Kalem Hutcheson; Cloverleaf Compound: 1st Wyatt Joseph, 2nd Bennett Beasley, 3rd Asher Edenfield; Junior Male Compound: 1st Tanner Mitchell, 2nd Jace Henry, 3rd Kayden Sutherland; Junior Female Compound: 1st Edyn Henry, 2nd Abigail Joseph, 3rd Ada Bell; Senior Male Compound: 1st Bowen Ware, 2nd Ethan Mason, 3rd Tate Torpy; Senior Female Compound: 1st Lauren Sapp; Overall High Shooter- Tanner Mitchell.
Other archery team members competing this season were Jenna Farmer, Clay Lawrence, Hoyt Lawrence, Sam Lawrence, Addi Rae Robertson, and Brett Way.
The Archery Program is a part of the Georgia 4-H Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education Program (S.A.F.E.). The teams were coached by 4-H Volunteers Ashley Henry, Cliff Mason, Melissa Gulledge, Steven Johnson, Seneca Lawrence, and Spencer Lawrence.
