Tavares Marquis Jones, age 37, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Ascension Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at St. Philip Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Leroy Jordan, Jr. officiating and Rev. Herbert Hodges presiding. Interment followed in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Tavares was born March 30, 1986, in Augusta, to Lillie Ruth Jones and Willie James Dawson, Jr. He was a graduate of Swainsboro High School. After graduation, Tavares attended Middle Tennessee State University with a full football scholarship. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Mr. Jones leaves to cherish his memories with his mother, Lillie Jones of Swainsboro; father, Willie James (Sabrina) Dawson, Jr. of Wadley; sisters, Sheree Brown Perry of Swainsboro, Talonda Brown of Chesterfield, VA, Sheniza Dawson of Atlanta, Shankeil Tarver and Shekenia Dawson, both of Wadley; brothers, Clarence Williams of Swainsboro, Michael Keith (Ashley) Brown of Waynesboro and Gerrie Brown of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
