Mr. Johnny Lamar Bedingfield, 80, of Guyton, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at PruittHealth. Visitation will be Saturday, May 4, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Graveside funeral and burial will be at 3 p.m. at Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Johnny, an Emanuel County native, was born in Swainsboro, growing up on a farm near Nunez and raising tobacco, cotton and peanuts. He was a 1962 graduate of Swainsboro High School. After graduation, Johnny lived in Atlanta for five years, moving to Savannah for a year, then Garfield for eight years before settling in Effingham County in 1976. He was a hard worker, spending many long days at National Linen Service before retiring, then working at the Effingham County Landfill for several years before retiring. Mr. Bedingfield is preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Gladys Cowart Bedingfield; his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Lynn Bedingfield; sister and brother-in-law, Ohma and Newt Waters; and brothers, Don Bedingfield and Wade Bedingfield.

Survivors include his son, John Marcus Bedingfield of Alexandria, VA; daughter, Tammy Donovan (Mike) of Bloomingdale; grandchildren, Brandon Donovan (Torri), Taylor Donovan (Hannah) and Brooke Donovan (Tyler); great-grandchildren, Blake Donovan, Luka Donovan and Kaden Eby; brother, Jerry Bedingfield (Amy) of Louisville; sisters-in-law, Jenny Bedingfield of Texas City, TX and Pat Bedingfield of Swainsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
