Brier Creek Artillery attends Patriot Grave Marking

The Brier Creek Artillery traveled to Talbotton, GA on April 13, 2024, to participate in the Grave Marking for Patriot Dickerson Lumpkin at 11 a.m. Those attending were President Steve Burke, Wiregrass Chapter, Vice President Lee Herron, Brier Creek Chapter, Sgt-at-Arms Don Bazemore Brier Creek Chapter and President Alton McCloud, Little River Chapter. Each member fired the three six-pounder cannons for a three-round volley. The Commemoration Service was held at the Wheelus-Woodall-Lumpkin Cemetery in Talbotton. It was sponsored by the Ocmulgee Chapter and the Button Gwinnett Chapter Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution. After the welcome from John Trussell, past president of the Ocmulgee Chapter, the presentation of Colors was held by the Georgia Society Color Guard Commander Scott Collins along with the Award-Winning Georgia Color Guard. After the dedication of the Grave Markers, a musket and cannon salute were held by Commander Steve Burke. Taps was then played by Compatriot Jack Trussell after which Mourn Muskets was presented by the Georgia Society SAR Militia. During the wreath presentation, 16 wreaths were presented. There were 67 in attendance.
