Why I am running for this office: I have a desire to be Sheriff because I have the experience, training & ability to make a positive difference for our citizens. I possess a proven record of positive & professional leadership. Drug & gang crimes, thefts, robberies & burglaries are increasing. There needs to be a firm stand against these crimes. I want to implement my plan to suppress these crimes & hold violators accountable. Response times to outer communities is high. I want to add additional deputies to the late shift. The additional deputy will patrol outer communities, reducing response times & increasing deputy visibility. I have a plan to eradicate backlogs of civil papers. The Sheriff’s Office, as part of the judicial system, is responsible for serving these papers & the plaintiff deserves the best effort. Once the backlog is eradicated, I have plans to implement a tracking system to eliminate future backlogs. Communication is the foundation to community trust & involvement. I have plans to provide an open line of communication by being accessible & holding routine "town hall" meetings. I plan to reactivate the Sheriff’s Office webpage to be a user friendly, great resource. It will include staff contact information, the current jail list and an updated Sex Offender Registry, to be compliant with Georgia Law. It will allow for anonymous crime tips and more. I plan to re- implement use of the Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page providing a factual resource for immediate communication with the public, when appropriate.
