You Are What You Eat

Posted

In order to live, we must eat. Eating is very important. It doesn't start when you are born but it starts before conception. It's important for mom to have a healthy diet before conceiving. Why? So she can have a healthy baby. The baby is going to be fed from its mother. Once the baby is born, he must have proper nourishment. Yes nutrition comes from the food we eat, our diet. It is complex, yet it is simple. You are what you eat.

That being said, let's take a journey from childhood. The food that tastes best were usually not good for you. So you always heard, "eat your vegetables, drink your milk". Why eat vegetables when sweets taste better? Your parents knew the nutrition you needed for strong bones and a healthy body was in those vegetables. So we had to learn to eat a balanced diet.

Whenever you go to the doctor, their main concern is your diet and exercise. Billions of dollars are spent today by people to get control of their diet. Why? Because you become what you eat. From your memory to every cell in your body is governed by your diet. So in order to be healthy, you must eat healthy because you are what you eat.

Now Jesus knew we cannot live without eating. So in order to reach and connect with everyone, he chose eating. You see the enemy tempted Eve in the garden to eat of the forbidden tree. It led to eternal death. So Jesus let the enemy know if eating caused everyone to be born in sin, then eating will take us out of sin and give us eternal life. For in Matthew 4:4 and Luke 4:4 Jesus says, " It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word which comes out of the mouth of God."

So in order to be spiritually fit and healthy, you must feed on the word of God. I know you need to eat three meals a day. So how much and how often are you eating spiritually? My dad, the late Bishop Lee Jones Sr. would remind us not to have a fat body and a lean soul. So let the Word of God help you today. Put your diet plans for losing weight away and make plans to include the word of God in your daily diet. It will make you spiritually mature and healthy.

Paul told the church in Romans in order to make the change in Romans 10:8,"...The word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart…."

So change to a spiritual diet and you will be able to get along with others. It will cause you to have better relationships. It will calm your nerves. A spiritual diet will balance your walking. Your spiritual eyesight and hearing will become clearer. It will teach you how to be financially secure. It will settle you down in your spirit. Eating the Word of God will stabilize your life.

Jesus said in St. John Chapter ten, "The thief comes not but for to steal, and to kill and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." So receive the abundant life through the Word of God. Remember, You Are What You Eat.
