Mr. Willie Jessie Hall, age 93, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Graveside service was held Saturday, October 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Elder D.G. Mosley presiding and Rev. Minnie Pitts officiating. Interment followed in St. Galilee Cemetery.
Mr. Hall was born October 22, 1927, in Luverne, AL, to the late Marzella and Jessie Hall. He delighted in talking about his earl years in AL, where he was a Head Butler at a large estate. After Mr. Hall relocated to New York, he became employed by DuArt Film Studios in Manhattan, and worked with them until retirement. He attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Hall is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ola Mae Hall; second wife, Annie Pearl Jenkins; son, Willie Lee Hall; brothers, Willie (Big Willie) Hall, Robert Hall, Lawyer Hall, and Genie Hall; sisters, Essie Mae Harris, Jesse Mae Dorsey, and Aileen Caldwell.
Mr. Hall is survived by four children, Donald (Erma) Jenkins, Velma Dawson, James (Mary) Jenkins, and Michael Jenkins; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives, and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
