Mr. William Denton “Dent” Beasley, 83, of Swainsboro, passed away at Memorial Health in Vidalia on Saturday, January 28, 2023, following an extended illness. A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, in the chapel at Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Rusty Moore officiating. The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, at Chapman Funeral Home.

Mr. Beasley was born July 30, 1939, in Wrightsville, to Henry Beasley and Nevada Dixon Beasley. Those who knew Dent, knew that he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved and cared for them for the past 64 years. Dent was an extremely hard worker. He started his own business at the age of 18, pouring and finishing concrete, then moved on to owner/operator of Swainsboro Concrete for many years. In 1996, he opened DM&N Trucking/Beasley Farms and continued working up until the day he passed away. If you ever needed to find him, you wouldn’t have to look far. He was either at the office or at home caring for his wife. Dent was definitely one of a kind when it came to helping others, sometimes to people he didn’t even know. He was a man of his word and loved to sit and share his wisdom and business knowledge. Dent was a member of Mt. Shady Church where he served as a deacon since 1975. He was Uncle Dent, an inspiration and role model to the younger family generations as leader of “The Gospel Tones” and song leader in the church. If you had ever asked any of his family, “What’s the one thing your dad/grandaddy taught you?” Their answer would be “to work hard”, as he instilled “work ethics” in each one of them. Dent made many friends throughout his life and was loved by them all. Mr. Beasley is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha Nell Akridge Beasley, brothers; Pat Beasley and Ed Beasley; and sister, Dolly Mae Jeffers.

Mr. Beasley is survived by his son, Mike Beasley (Debra) of Swainsboro; daughter, Melinda Brown (Gary) of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Terry Beasley (Denise) of Yulee, FL; grandchildren, Wesley Beasley (Krislyn), Kealia Wilcher (Craig), Mason Brown (Maura) and Denton Kade Beasley; great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Beasley, John Wright Beasley, Wills Beasley, Gaige Wilcher, Michael Wilcher, Remington Wilcher, and Mala Brown; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made directly to Chapman Funeral Home, 427 North Main Street, Swainsboro, GA 30401.

Chapman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
