What is an educational support professional?

Posted

This week is American Education Week. All week, teachers and school employees are thanked for teaching kids and keeping them safe at school.

Today is educational support professionals day. I’m only 9-years-old, so I asked my mom what an educational support professional is. We did some research together and I found out the answer. Educational support professionals work to make schools better. They can be a janitor, school bus driver or substitute teacher. They also can work in the front office, provide security and work on computers. Some are even nurses, like my school nurse, Mrs. Lindsey Newsome.

Mrs. Lindsey is the nurse at my school, Twin City Elementary. She helps people all the time and loves everyone. She takes care of us when we don’t feel good and are away from our moms and dads. She checks temperatures, gives us medicine and band aids when we get hurt and even calls our parents to let them know what’s going on.

Mrs. Lindsey always helps the people she works with, too! She helps the people in the front office and all of the schoolteachers. Last year, she helped my teacher, Mrs. Anna Kate Willoughby, pass out pumpkins to my classroom for a school project. My mom said Mrs. Lindsey helped Miss Anna Kate and other teachers pass out pumpkins again this year. She also helps in other ways, too.

Miss Lindsey is really nice. She always wants to help other people and seems really happy about it.

Thank you for all that you do Mrs. Lindsey!
