Mrs. Wanda Jean Gorham Roberts, 70, of Chula, died Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. Funeral services were held Friday, July 23, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Tifton with Rev. Stephen Webb officiating. Interment followed in Lenox City Cemetery. The family received friends Thursday, July 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Albritton Funeral Directors.
Philip Jones, Dewayne Fletcher, Anthony Roberts, James Whittle, Dylan Patel, Landen Roberts, Chris Robinson, Tyler Patel, Jayden Patel, and Griffin Jones served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Roberts was born on April 5, 1951, in Columbus, GA, to the late Rev. Jack I. Gorham and Frances Randall Gorham Stramoski. Mrs. Roberts lived in Tifton for forty-one years. She was an excellent homemaker and took great pride in raising her family. She was a nurturing mother, grandmother, and an excellent cook. Mrs. Roberts shared a fifty-four-year relationship with the love of her life, Dr. Don Wayne Roberts, which bore fruit in a beautiful family. Mrs. Wanda was a 1969 honor graduate of Emanuel County Institute in Twin City. She then earned her associate’s degree from Young Harris College in Young Harris, GA. At Young Harris, she was a proud member of Dorcas Honor Society and the Susan B. Harris Sorority which promoted raising self-esteem and service to the college. Following her marriage in 1972, she and Dr. Roberts moved to Augusta where she worked as an administrative secretary and supported her husband in medical school. After an additional three years in Louisville, Kentucky she was a mother and homemaker. In 1980, the Roberts moved to Tifton to begin Dr. Roberts’ medical practice and Wanda continued her role as
mother and homemaker. Mrs. Wanda was a lady of faith and was very active at First United Methodist where she sang in the Chancel Choir and volunteered with the Children’s Choir Program. She and her family also actively attended Sunday School. Several years later, Mrs. Roberts assumed an important administrative role in supervising payroll and the retirement plan. Mrs. Roberts also owned and operated Reliant Property Management, LLC. until her death. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Dan Kask.
Along with Mrs. Roberts husband, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Dewayne Fletcher of Moultrie; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Bryan Stuart and Anna Bowden Roberts of Whitewater WI and Alan Merritt and Eden Collier Roberts of Alpharetta; grandsons, Dylan Patel, Tyler Patel, and Jayden Patel; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dr. Earle Stramoski of Asheville, N.C., David and Vickie Gorham of Metter, and Andy and Robin Gorham of Alexandria, OH.; two sisters and brother-in-law, Inez Kask of Statesboro and Jackie and Lamar Flanders of Cataula; and numerous nieces and nephews.
