Twin City Fire Department delivers water donation to school kids

Under a typical daily operation of a fire department, they are used to delivering water by way of hose lines, deck guns, and other devices. However, this request for assistance was different.

On Monday, November 16, Chief Foster Grimes with the Twin City Fire Department was contacted by personnel from Twin City Elementary School asking for help. They were asking for donations of water for the kids at the school. Fire Department members were immediately contacted through their group messenger service asking for donations. It was suggested that the volunteer firefighter group reach out to Twin City's new local grocery store, Piggly Wiggly, to request for help. The response - a pallet of water (53 cases) was ordered for the fire department, which arrived on Thursday, November 19. Members were able deliver 1,275 bottles of water on Friday, November 20.  The Twin City Fire Department would like to thank Del Brown, owner of Piggly Wiggly, for his help with this purchase.

The Twin City Fire Department would like to take this opportunity to challenge other community organizations to support local schools and food pantries, such as Weekend Blessings. Members of the Twin City Fire Department are not only about helping the community with fires and emergencies, but also support the community with other items such as this. If you are interested in joining the Twin City Fire Department or any Emanuel County Fire Department, please contact Swainsboro Fire Headquarters at 478-237-8533.
