Mr. Tommie Worthen, age 73, departed this life on March 29, 2021, at Riverview Nursing Home in Savannah after an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 3, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Chapman Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Chapman Funeral Home. In compliance with the guidelines set by the CDC, 6-feet rule was enforced during visitation and service.
Pallbearers were his nephews.
Mr. Worthen was born November 17, 1947, in Emanuel County, to the late Jim and Laura Worthen of Swainsboro. He worked as a Truck Driver and a Mechanic for various companies. Tommie left Swainsboro at an early age and moved to Savannah. Mr. Worthen is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Helen “Toby” Bell, Annie Lois Wright, Ella Worthen, and Alma “Dolly” Worthen Parker; and six brothers, Troy Worthen, Albert Worthen, Jimmy Dell Worthen, Leroy Worthen, William “Nankie” Worthen, and George Worthen.
Mr. Worthen leaves a legacy of loving memories with his children’s mother, Jamie Marciano of Savannah; two daughters, Natasha Marciano Whitfield (Kenneth) and Stephanie Worthen Jackson (Michael), both of Savannah; two sons, Thomas Worthen and Shawn Worthen (Christina), both of Savannah; seven granddaughters, Julica Wilkerson (Taris), Camilla Jackson, Sha’Kayla Worthen, Sha’Keyra Worthen, Zamiah Worthen, LeAnne Worthen, and Ciara Worthen, all of Savannah; three grandsons, Damien Wickerson (Monica), Lorenzo Worthen, and Za’Kee Whitfield, all of Savannah; three great-granddaughters, Ta’Liyah Johnson, Venus Wickerson, both of Savannah, and Raine Wickerson of Bainbridge; one great-grandson, Jamier Hendrix of Savannah; one step-granddaughter; four step-grandsons; three brothers, Marvin Worthen, Terry Worthen, and Dannie “Debo” Worthen, all of Swainsboro; two half-brothers, Jimmy Seabough (Ethel Lou) and Dennis Mason (Frieda), both of Swainsboro; one step-brother, Paul Weaver of Swainsboro; three sister-in-laws, Juanita Worthen, Ella W. Worthen, and Jacqueline L. Worthen, all of Swainsboro; one half-sister, Charlene Freeman of Atlanta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends from Swainsboro and Savannah.
