To Be Noted: Retractions/Corrections for May 18, 2022 edition

Posted

The following information is to be noted on two articles (*SHS’s Change in Graduation Plans and *Warnings issued for unlicensed game rooms) listed on Page 3A in the March 18, 2022 edition of The Forest-Blade:

RETRACTION ANNOUNCEMENT

Please disregard this week’s article regarding changes with Swainsboro High School graduation plans. On Tuesday morning, the school announced a change of venue and seating arrangements for Thursday’s ceremony. However,  after press deadline, the school retracted the change of graduation plans and announced the decision to allow graduation to be held on Tiger Field as originally planned. Per Swainsboro High School Principal Brandon Andrews, the following information is the most recent, accurate update announced by the school:

“Per Swainsboro High School Principal, Mr. Brandon Andrews:

After further consideration, we have made the decision to allow graduation to be held on Tiger Field as originally planned.  We appreciate the professionalism used to express concerns with regard to the venue location.  We are excited to recognize this special time in the lives of our students and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments with you on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. on Tiger Field.  We encourage you to monitor the weather/forecasted temperatures and take precautions you deem necessary.”

CORRECTION

Listed in this week’s “Warnings issued for unlicensed game rooms” article, it states that “…warning citations were issued for violation of the city’s charter. This is not correct and should read, “…verbal warnings were given for violation of the city’s charter.”

No citations were issued to any of the visited locations. As a courtesy, these businesses received verbal warnings only so that the problem could be addressed in a quick, professional manner.

The Blade regrets this error.
