Then, What!!!

When I think about how my life has turned out from what I thought it would be, I am so thankful that God has intervened to guide me in such a loving way. My life is a great example of a father’s love.
I think back to a time in my life that I was so busy trying to obtain the “American Dream.” One day, as I was riding home from work, I was driving but, in a daze, thinking about what I needed to do to make more money to buy more stuff and get bigger things. This is when the Holy Spirit asked me this question “then what?” I was floored because I understood completely what He was saying. He was making the point that after I had worked very hard to accomplish everything I wanted to get and do, only He remained. God is the true source of joy and happiness. I felt horrible at the thought of all the commotion I had let drive a distance between me and my Love. When I arrived home, I quickly made it to my bedroom and prayed for His forgiveness and explained to Him how much I appreciated Him and would never again desire stuff more that I desired Him. Almost 15 years later, I am still madly in love with my Heavenly Father.

How many of you are focused on making more money to buy a house, car, build onto your house etc., that if you were completely honest, you have forgotten about the source of all joy and happiness, God. Sadly, this was me, an aspiring preacher who claimed to love God more than anything, now wants everything first and God last.
The point of this is to ask you, what are you putting before God? Do you have such a strong desire for the things that God provides more than your desire for the provider, God? I am here to inform you that all of the money in the world may bring you temporary happiness, but it will not fulfill what God can. Will millions of dollars or a larger house fix your broken marriage? Will possessions cause your child to stop doing drugs? The answer is No. We can only place our hope in the Lord Jesus. The bible says in Psalms 20:7 “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” After you have toiled for things in life, there is a complete feeling of lack afterwards. Let me be clear about this, there is noting wrong with having nice things or more stuff, it is only that we must want God more than anything else imaginable. I leave you with this scripture, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33 KJV.
