Now that we have celebrated the natural birth of Jesus Christ, let's walk in the love which He gave to us. The gift of Jesus was a love gift. For John 3:16 KJV tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Yes, Jesus is a gift of love to you and I.
Because we were separated from God the Father through the sin of Adam in the Garden, God wanted to restore our relationship with Him. To have a blood sacrifice free from the curse of Adam, He sent His son, Jesus Christ. Now we know just how much He loves us because love is measured by sacrifice. Romans 5:8 backs it up by saying, "But God commandeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Since Christ died for us, there is no greater sacrifice therefore there is no greater love.
Now, John is called the love discipline. There are two passages of scripture we will share from John. In St. John 15:13 Jesus says, "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends". John also writes, in I John 3:16 KJV, "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."
Because of the previous verse, the love giver today should be you and I. We ought to love one another. If we have the live that Christ demonstrated to us, then we will have Christmas year-round. So let us demonstrate the love of Christ without regards to status, class, sexual orientation, race, color, education, denomination or anything you choose to find a reason to hate or discriminate. Jesus loves you and I even in our worse sin. Remember, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
So Apostle Paul said it like this in I Corinthians 13:13, "And now abides faith, hope, charity (love), theses three; but the greatest of these is charity (love). " So let's begin now walking in the greatest, which is love. It is then when we really celebrate Jesus' birth.
