The Fulford Center at EGSC prepares for Summer Camps

The Sudie A. Fulford Community Learning Center on the Swainsboro campus of East Georgia State College will hold a variety of camps this summer to serve the area’s youth. 

To kick off the 2022 summer camps, the Emanuel Arts Council is hosting an art camp June 6-8, 2022. This camp has already filled up with students, but a waiting list has been created. The camp will be from 9:00 a.m. until noon for rising 3 – 5 grades. The annual camp will focus on drawing, painting, and creativity! This camp is full of guided learning experiences designed to maximize each child’s creativity.

Discovery STEM Camp will be held June 13-16, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. until noon. This camp is open to rising 3 – 5 graders and participation is limited to 20 campers. The cost of the camp is $125. During this four-day camp, students will take part in engineering design challenges and learn about related STEM careers. Real world connections will be made for each student, and they will also set their own STEM career goals! This camp is hosted by Magnolia Midlands Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers (GYSTC).

Makerspace Day Camp will be held June 20, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. until noon. A makerspace is a place where students can create, problem solve, and develop skills, talents, thinking, and mental rigor. The camp is $15 and open to rising 3 – 5 graders. This camp is hosted by Magnolia Midlands Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers (GYSTC).

Astronomy Camp is June 28-30, 2022 and will be hosted by the Fulford Center and Magnolia Midlands GYSTC. The camp is from 8:00 a.m. until noon each day and is available for rising 1 – 2 grades. The camp is $45, and participation is limited to 20 campers. The camp will provide a unique experience as campers explore the solar system and universe! They will engage in fun, hands on activities as they explore what lies beyond!

In its tenth year at the Fulford Center, Camp Invention will be held July 11-15 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. for rising grades 3 – 6. Camp Invention is a nationally recognized unique summer opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, and math through exciting hands-on activities. At Camp Invention, campers will learn how to think like inventors, problem-solve, collaborate, and create. Scholarships are provided through Nordson Corporation, and the maximum number of campers is 50.
