Oak Park is the place to be Saturday, September 24. The Oak Park Shiners are sure they have something for every member of the family. The day will start off at 7 a.m. with the third annual Mickey Lindsey Memorial Run. This 5k and 1k kids fun run/walk proceeds got to Make a Wish of Georgia. Oak Park Shiner Teresa Lindsey will host this event in memory of her son and to also bring awareness to childhood cancer during Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

This year’s festival has over 40 vendors already signed up and will feature axe throwing, jewelry, arts and crafts, kid zone, an appearance from The Army National Guard, and every kind of food you could imagine and much more!

“This year’s vendors have lots to offer” states vendor coordinator Lisa Turbyfill.

Dana Strange and Terry Strange are super excited about this year’s car show that already has over 100 vehicles signed up.

“We have people bringing cars from as far away as Daytona Florida” states Terry.

This year’s car show is dedicated to the memory of Terry Edenfield who was an avid car guy and supporter of the Oak Park Moonshine Festival Car Show.

Amanda Mimbs, who handles festival entertainment, is very excited about this year’s lineup which includes Landon Waters, Aaron Tanner, Salazar and Big K Sounds. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a great day of music!

The highlight of the day will be Smokey and The Bandit Live. They will roll in with the Semi, Buford T Justice Sheriff’s car and the Bandit’s Trans Am. Look alike for The Bandit, Sheriff Justice and The Snowman will take the experience to the next level.

The Oak Park Shiners would like to remind everyone the festival is not for the promotion of or sale of any alcohol, but for the history of the great little town. All money raised will benefit the restoration of Oak Park’s 100-year-old schoolhouse buildings as well as many free events held throughout the year. Entry price per person is $5 for ages seven and up. Children six-years and younger get in free. Gates open at 8 a.m.
