Teen Summer Camp Hosted by Second Union Missionary Baptist Association

The Second Union Missionary Baptist Association sponsored a "Teen Summer Camp" on July 19 -July 21. The purpose of the camp was to provide educational and recreational learning components in teaching life skills to local youth. Expectations, guidelines, and opening greetings were presented by Moderator Reverend Dr. E. Muriel Bell. Vice Moderator was Reverend Melvin Adams, Sr.

The three-day event welcomed a total of 30 middle and high school-age youth who were all provided with transportation, breakfast, lunch and snacks during the 2022 summer camp. Attendees enjoyed outings to Skateland of Augusta and Splash-in-the-Boro. The two outings were offered at no cost to the youth, their families, or churches.

The teen camp also featured informative presentations on a variety of topics. Presenters were as follows: Yoga, Kelly Bullock- Kindred Yoga and Wellness, Metter, Georgia; Motivational Goals Setting - Sara Young, East Georgia State College; Healthy food/Sports drinks, and Stress/Hypertension, EMC Juanita Porter and Carmen Tanner; Cyberbullying, Sgt. Roberson and Assistant, Emanuel County Sheriff's Department; Strokes, Dr. Gladys Gibbons, NP; Stop, Drop and Roll Fire Safety, Fire Chief Mike Strobridge.

Camp participants received gift bags with school supplies for attending the summer event and presenters were given gift bags of appreciation.
