Swainsboro welcomes new powersports business – H&M Powersports

For many years, Bellamy’s Motorsports, Inc. has been Swainsboro’s home for purchasing golf cart and recreational vehicles. Since closing its doors since approximately 2014, the once booming establishment on South Main Street has remained empty with no hope of revitalization. On December 4th, 2021, the once dilapidated group of buildings have once again been re-opened to the public and have been impressing the community since opening day one. Boasting new and used Utility Terrain Vehicles(UTVs), All Terrain Vehicles(ATVs), zero-turn lawn-mowers, golf carts, and finally, a “state of the art” parts and service center; owner/general manager, David Anderson, Jr. and partner Dal Durden are bringing back a rich piece of history with a new twist to our community.

David Anderson, Jr., a Tattnall county resident, is beginning to live his sought after dream of owning a dealership, and with the help of his business mentor, Dal Durden, and hard-working team, the dream is becoming a reality instantaneously. Anderson does not hesitate to let his employees and customers know the ever present, lasting effects of Durden’s wisdom and how these beliefs have been beneficial to the company thus far. In addition to Durden’s mentorship, Anderson is adamant in relaying the significance of his granddad’s beliefs and the impression these beliefs have had throughout his life. Anderson states, “My granddad would always tell me, - son, if you will run your dealership with honesty and integrity, you will never worry about a dollar. The customers will be there.” Consequently, it is no surprise H&M Powersports’ motto is “Honesty and Integrity in everything we do.” Anderson has worked diligently to instill his rigorous work ethic and high standard for customer satisfaction into his current team. “We have one opportunity to make an impression upon customers and, it is through the daily small impressions our prestigious reputation can begin to grow. Also, being completely honest with each and every customer, David’s dream is beginning to take shape. “I find it so important to be able to walk by my customers at Wal-Mart and hear the stories of how they are pleased with everything from the cordial treatment of our team, through ensuring customer satisfaction through the entire process of purchasing a buggy and/or other product,” David states. He feels regardless of the information, whether it is good, bad, or indifferent, customers may need to see the big picture and David has a plan to ensure customers will come back.

Even with a family rich in the knowledge of sales and mechanics, Anderson’s life has not been without obstacles. Like every person, Anderson has experienced trials, tribulations, and painful life events where he thought he may not recover. Because of these experiences, Anderson’s outlook on life has shifted from “wanting to make the money” to that of helping others when it is needed the most. “It is because of God’s grace, I have finally gotten to this moment in my life, '' Anderson states. A certified firefighter, Anderson hopes to help support and give back to the community by providing donations to local community resource agencies. These agencies may help families who experience a severe loss with a set amount of funds to help begin to re-establish their life. “I would gladly relinquish anything to help others because, I could not imagine the feeling of overwhelming loss or tragedy my family would have to endure,” states Anderson. He also goes on to state he wants the legacy of H&M Powersports to be known as a business who has served the community in a positive way and helped to make a difference in peoples’ lives.

While David has a long family history in all facets of operating a dealership, he does not want to neglect the vendors and team members who have helped him get this far.
