The Swainsboro Rotary Club met at the Rustic Grill on Jan. 6, at 12 p.m. to kick off the new year. The meeting was well attended with President Zack Proctor calling the meeting to order with the invocation, pledge and 4-way test. Patrick Sweet introduced the guest speaker for the meeting, Savannah Tanner, Emanuel County Extension Agent, who gave a very interesting presentation on the devastation of Hurricane Helene in Emanuel County, and the expected costs to our farmers and timber owners. Agriculture is such an important part of this community, and this loss will take many years to overcome. The next meeting will be on January 13.
