Swainsboro Rotarians discuss plans for upcoming Pine Tree Festival pageant

The Swainsboro Rotary club met at the Rustic Grill on Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, during the noon hour.  Guy Singletary, president, called the meeting to order and the prayer, pledge and 4 way test were recited by members. Steven McCommas, Assistant District Governor 2020-2021, gave some brief comments about Rotary in our area. The bulk of the meeting was spent discussing the Pinetree Festival Pageant, which the Rotary Club sponsors every year.

A committee meeting was held at the Durden Bank Conference the previous week and some of the details were discussed and finalized. That committee consisted of President Singletary, John Allen Bailey, Wade Johnson, Zack Frye, Greg Johnson, Kristen Hall, Carmen Tanner, Jessica Bedingfield, Patti Hendley and Tanya Lane.  After having to cancel the pageant last year due to Covid, the club is excited to once again be able to hold this event for the community.

The Miss Division, ages 17-22, is now a scholarship, and the winner will receive $500.  The Miss and Teen Miss will be preliminaries to the Miss Georgia Forestry Pageant that is held in Tifton in July. This is a new addition to the pageant and will be a requirement of the winner. The Swainsboro Rotary Club will have more details in the upcoming weeks. There is also a Facebook page that will give more details and the entry information and price for registration.
After some discussion, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be Monday, March 1, 2021 at The Rustic Grill.
