Swainsboro Primary welcomes Emanuel Retired Educators

Posted

Swainsboro Primary School hosted the Emanuel Retired Educators Association at its February meeting. Principal Ron Hirst welcomed the group and thanked members for their many years of service to the school district. Following a delicious meal provided by the school, Mr. Hirst, along with Assistant Principal Sarah Tapley, Instructional Coach Jodi Singletary, Data Coach Abby Edenfield, and School Counselor Mandy Rigdon, shared a most impressive and entertaining video highlighting successful programs and initiatives currently in place at the school. They explained that their School Improvement Plan addressed each facet of Swainsboro Primary: students, staff, and

family/community. A variety of strategies and resources have been put into place in an effort to increase the percentage of students performing at grade level. Teachers and paraprofessionals alike are afforded individualized professional learning opportunities based on interest and/or individual needs. Being a family-focused school, SPS has implemented a variety of parent engagement programs including a Parent of the Month Celebration, as well as a newly restructured PTO to ensure parents are leading the organization.

It was clear that the EREA members were impressed by the enthusiasm, excitement and innovative spirit that fills the classrooms at Swainsboro Primary. This month’s visit to a truly outstanding school not only reaffirmed the commitment these retired professionals still feel for education, it may have also stirred a few to consider rejoining the ranks! Congratulations and many thanks to Swainsboro Primary School.
