Swainsboro Kiwanis times Wrightsville Firecracker 5K Run

Posted

The Kiwanis Club of Swainsboro traveled to Wrightsville on Saturday, July 4, to time the Firecracker 5K Run as part of the city's July 4th Independence Day Celebration.
The organizers selected a 5K route that started on the downtown square at 8 a.m. and ended two blocks from downtown beside the old Rite Aid Pharmacy. The run consisted of 79 applicants and the fastest runner completed the 3.1 miles in just over 18 minutes.
The Swainsboro Kiwanis Club has been professionally timing 5K and 10K Runs for more than three years in most cities within 50 miles of Swainsboro. Club equipment consists of three digital handheld timers, a large digital clock mounted on a tri-pod, numbered tickets to hand out to the finishers in order, a narrow finish line shoot, a large 7' male and female finishing poster board, a cheerleader section, a bull horn, and a race director.
