The Swainsboro Tigers rode into Jeff Davis Friday, September 1,and beat down the Yellow Jackets, 32-0. This was a complete domination. Jeff Davis is a familiar foe for the Tigers as they were in the same region for the last few seasons, and the Tigers have owned them as of late. It was a tough week of practice with the hurricane coming in, so preparation was a little different than usual, but the Tigers still played well. Coach Scott Roberts was complimentary of the team saying, "It was a weird week with the cancellation of two practices due to the hurricane. I thought our kids handled that very maturely and took care of business Friday night. We put a lot of stuff on film that you could tell we missed a couple of practices, but the effort was there and that overcame a lot of mistakes." On offense, it was led by Bryson Tarver and Quin Brown who both ran for over 100 yards and four combined touchdowns. Jordan Williams added the other. That is what makes this team so impressive, the running back room is running over. They have had a different leading rusher every game, any back can break one at any time, and that makes them nearly impossible to stop. On the defensive side of the ball, I can’t go another week without mentioning Jerrod Steward. He has been a force in every game - we saw the same thing last year. He can stop the run, rush the quarterback, and even drop back in coverage. This guy will be a top player every time he steps on the field. The defense, as a whole, has begun the year a lot like last year, only giving up two touchdowns through the first three weeks. This team gets better and better every single week. They have been winning despite being a little banged up. Hopefully they will be in full health in the next few weeks. They will go on the road to take on Dodge County next Friday, September 8. The Tigers don’t need to overlook this Dodge County, but I know they’ll be ready to go.
