Swainsboro basketball sweeps Toombs County

The Swainsboro Tigers boys and girls basketball teams took care of business last Friday night against the Toombs County Bulldogs, winning both games by double digits.
The girls led by just one point heading into the final period but dominated the 4th quarter 18-5, securing a 59-45 victory for their first region win (1-2). Tanyia Williams led the scoring with 17 points and Jada Murphy put in 12 points for the Tigers who are 3-4 overall on the season.


The boys had little trouble with the Bulldogs, jumping out to a 10-point lead after one quarter and stretching it out to a 46-21 lead at the half. Swainsboro poured it on in the 3rd quarter as the lead grew to 35 points with the Tigers putting in the bench in the final quarter for an 81-47 win. The Tigers (6-1) are undefeated in the region and were led by Fred Seabrough’s 17 points and Derrick Jones with 13 points.
Swainsboro will have weekend road games against East Laurens and Vidalia.
