St. Philip Baptist Church, located on South Racetrack Street in Swainsboro, hosted a food-box give-away event for members throughout the community on Thursday, October 15. The event began at 10 a.m. and ended at 2 p.m. and featured the distribution of food boxes as well as free clothes for those in need.

Clothing items were showcased in front of the church and were donated by St. Philips Center of Hope Thrift Shop. The thrift shop takes monetary donations for clothing items and uses those funds to benefit the church’s homeless shelter.

Patricia Mincey, thrift shop director, also noted that the church’s thrift shop also aids inmates released from the county jail who are in need of clothing items and advised that donations of money or clothing are always welcome to benefit the church’s mission to provide for the needs of the community.
