Special Session Update - Senator Billy Hickman

Posted

Dear Friend,

I hope that you and your family had a very blessed Thanksgiving. I am blessed beyond words to have such a loving family, to serve District 4 in the State Senate, and to be loved by our Lord and Savior.

As you may have seen, we recently finished the Special Legislative Session where the legislature was tasked with redrawing the State House, State Senate, and Congressional districts to reflect changes in population following the 2020 Census.

The State House and State Senate have both voted on and passed the new maps which means they are now awaiting the Governor's signature before becoming law.

Beginning January 1, 2023, my new district will be made up of Candler, Evans, Bulloch, Effingham, and a portion of Chatham (Bloomingdale and Pooler). While I am sad that I will not be representing some of you anymore, please do not hesitate to reach out if I can be of assistance! I am also very excited to be joining the Chatham County legislative delegation and look forward to getting to know my new constituents!

Prior to the legislative session, we held our Hometown Tour with stops in each county of the current 4th District - Evans, Tattnall, Candler, Effingham, Emanuel, and Bulloch.

It was a pleasure to be with Georgia’s Adjutant General, Major General Tom Carden Jr., for the Veterans Day Ceremony at the Capitol.

We should be forever grateful for those who have put on a uniform to protect and defend our freedoms. It is especially important to remember around the holidays that not everyone gets to come home and celebrate with their families.

Thank you to all of our service men and women who are currently deployed overseas and away from their families.

I never saw myself in politics, but it is truly the honor of a lifetime to serve you in the State Senate. I am excited by our new legislative districts and am proud of the work the legislature put in to make sure these are fair and reflective of Georgia's population changes.

I made a promise to always fight for you - ahead of any special interests under the Gold Dome - and I will continue to deliver on that promise every day that I serve.

We have an Election fast approaching, so I am humbly asking you to consider chipping in a few dollars to our campaign before the end of the year by clicking the "Donate" button below.

Any amount whether it is $5, $10, $25, or even $50 will go a long way in holding the Republican majority in the State Senate.

Look out for more updates and please be sure to like my Facebook page!

God Bless you,

Senator Billy Hickman
