October 7

Officer was dispatched to S. Main St. in reference to a damaged vehicle.

Officer was dispatched to N. Anderson Dr. in reference to a couple arguing. Offender was trying to get complainant back in the building when officer told her to step inside while he spoke with c/p. C/p stated that offender stole his debit card and took around $300 out of his bank account without his permission. Officers went inside to speak with offender and she was gone. When units were about leave, c/p stepped outside and stated that offender also took his phone.

October 8

Officer performed a traffic stop due to the driver not having on a seatbelt. The driver got out of his vehicle and acted like he was confused as to what was going on and officer walked up to him and told him why he was stopped, at which point the driver claimed he was wearing his seatbelt. Officer asked for his license and he stated he did not have a license but had an ID card. Officer returned to his unit to run offender’s ID card to ding that his license are suspended for a first offense of DUI and no insurance. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer observed a vehicle with no working tag lights, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer ran the driver’s info to find that he was wanted out of Laurens Co. and there was a warning to use caution because he might be armed and dangerous. Upon doing a search of offender, a glass pipe with a crystal-like substance inside of it was found in his pocket. Consent was given by the driver to search the vehicle and a pistol was located under the seat. Offender then stated there was an AR15 in the toolbox. Offender and passenger were transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer responded to W. Main St. in reference to harassing communications. Complainant stated she received a phone call about having an outstanding warrant for failing to appear at Judy Duty in Statesboro. Offender then asked c/p for her identifying info and she supplied him with her DL info and SS#. C/p stated she then realized what happened and blocked the number and offender began to text her from another number threatening to ruin her life if she didn’t provide him with sexual photographs.

October 9

Officer was contacted by 911 in reference to a theft that occurred at Roadway Inn and the owner was in FL. Officer called the victim who stated he and his wife stayed at Roadway Inn and left his Bi-pap machine and when he called up there, he was told it was no longer there.

Officer was on Pine St. when a vehicle approaching him turned in front of him, coming close to hitting his patrol unit. Officer pulled in behind the vehicle and asked the driver to be more careful and the passenger got out and used the ATM. Officer ran the tag number and it was taking some time to come back so he pulled off as he warned the driver about failure to yield. Officer left and was then notified that the tag came back suspended for failure to appear, at which time he turned around and got behind the vehicle to find that it did not have any head lights or tail lights on. Officer turned his blue lights on and the driver turned his head lights on and pulled over. The driver’s door opened and the driver put his left leg out and was putting his hand in a compartment to the left of the steering wheel. Officer told him to show his hands and did so. Officer asked for his name but he wouldn’t say thing, then stated “you know me”. Officer told the driver that he did not know him and told him he smelled a strong odor of alcohol on him. Offender stated that nobody could say that he had been drinking. Officer asked offender for his name again and he complied, then was asked to step out of the vehicle. Offender’s eyes were bloodshot, sleepy and watery, and he was unbalanced and unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred, mumbling at times, and slow, and he was very nervous acting. Offender was asked to blow into a PBT device but would put his tongue in the way of his breath and the last time he blew, it registered positive at .10. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail and blamed his family members for calling and telling on him, then would cry and hit his fist on the counter and kept asking why he kept putting himself in these situations. Offender was not given a temporary driver’s permit due to his license being suspended.

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for running a red light. Officer asked the driver for his license and stated he did not have them on him but had a picture of them on his phone. Officer was able to smell a faint odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Officer asked how much he had to drink and he stated not too much. Offender did not have slurred speech, but his eyes were sleepy looking. Officer asked offended to step out of his vehicle and take a field sobriety and he agreed. After performing the field sobriety test, offender was given a PBT that showed alcohol level. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer was approached by complainant/victim who stated his secondary home had been damaged.

October 10

Officer observed a vehicle with no working tail light and the windows were tinted very dark. Officer pulled behind the vehicle and it failed to maintain its lane, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Two males jumped out and ran on foot. Officer opened the driver side door and offender was in the seat. Officer asked who the males were that ran and she stated she did not know them. Units secured the perimeter and officer ran offender’s license to find they are suspended for failure to appear. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.

Complainant stated that her friend/victim was at her house with the kids making cookies and c/p saw a post on Facebook from offender about c/p and victim being at the house smoking drugs with the kids. C/p asked her boyfriend, who is friends with offender, to text him and ask him to take it down and stop posting about them. Offender sent a text back asking the victim/offender’s ex, to text him to talk about court and their son. The victim has a TPO on offender and he keeps trying to call and text her off of a app.

October 11

Officer was dispatched to Crump St. in reference to a domestic dispute. Complainant reported that offender arrived at his house and was angry because she believed he had another female inside. C/p reported that he did not want offender to return. Offender was issued a criminal trespass warning and escorted from the property.

Officer responded to Lewis St. for someone hitting a power box.

Officer was dispatched to Lucky Spot in reference to a theft committed by an employee. Officer located offender at Sunoco who very agitated and was crying, and asked where the deposit was that she took from Lucky Spot. Offender stated she worked at Lucky Spot and put some of the money into the Bit Coin machine and the rest was in her purse. Officer asked offender how much she put in the machine and she said $2700. Officer asked how much the deposit was and she stated around $4500. Officer asked offender why she took the money and she stated that a man called the store and said he was the owner’s brother and told her to take the money and gave her an account number to send the money to. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail. Officer then went back to Lucky Spot and spoke with the clerk who stated the offender was driven to the store by a female subject. The clerk stated they both walked in the store and she heard offender tell the other female “we are stealing from this man and he doesn’t even know it”. The clerk stated that the two females walked back to the Bit Coin machine and were back there for quite a while before the other female left the store and left offender there.

October 12

Officer responded to Easy Stop in reference to shoplifting. Complainant stated a male walked out with a pack of cigars after his ApplePay failed to go through.

Officer was dispatched to O’Reilly’s for a damage to vehicle report.

Officer was dispatched to E. Main St. in reference to a vehicle that went in the ditch. Driver was identified as complainant who stated she tried to pull off of the road to turn around and went in the ditch.

Officer was dispatched to Richard St. in reference to two males knocking on people’s doors. Officer made contact with the male subjects and asked why they were walking in the rain and why they were knocking on people’s doors and they both stated their car wouldn’t start and needed some jumper cables. Officer asked where the car was and they stated at the dead end. One male stated they were walking to his father’s house on Solomon St. Officer left them walking and traveled to the dead end and did not locate a vehicle. Officers then went to Solomon St. and located the two males. Officer asked the males where the vehicle was and they stated it was at the end of Neal St. and they went down the wrong road. The father agreed to go and jump the vehicle off as long as the male subjects could ride with officers because he did not want them with him. While traveling to the vehicle, officer could smell a slight odor of marijuana coming from the rear of his unit. One male stated that the keys were locked inside the vehicle but once it was jumped off, it would unlock.

Once the vehicle had power, the male could not find the keys and the vehicle would not unlock. Officer asked one male to step to the side to speak with him and asked what they were doing at the dead end and he stated he was picking his friend up from his girlfriend’s house but couldn’t tell him where she lived. Officer then asked if they had been smoking pot and he stated he hasn’t smoked but the other male smoked in his vehicle. Officer then looked in the window and could see marijuana shake in the passenger seat. Officer then asked the other male where he was sitting in the vehicle and he stated in the passenger seat. He then asked how much marijuana was in the vehicle and he stated not too much and it was in the pizza box in the back seat. He then stated it was all his and he was the only one that had it. The male subject was unable to find the keys and asked if they could unlock it. Officer notified 911 to send ECSO to unlock the vehicle. Once unlocked, a search of the vehicle was done and one male was arrested for possession of marijuana. The male subject told the officer he wanted his wallet that was in the back of his father’s truck and a search of it was done before giving it to him and two small straws with white powder residue were in it. Officer then asked the male subject about a white pill and if he swallowed it and he stated he didn’t know anything about a white pill. The other male subject stated it was in the zipper pocket on his wallet. Officer searched the wallet again and did not locate any pill, then looked in the back of the father’s truck and found a wet, mashed pill and collected it. One male subject was transported to EmCo Jail and advised that the powder substance was Percocet.

October 13

Officer was dispatched to Wendy’s due to two males in the restaurant with guns. Offender 1 was detained and officers were told that offender 2 went towards Taco Bell. Offender 1’s mother arrived on scene and with her help, offender 2 was identified. Officers left to look for offender 2 but were unable to locate him. Victim 1 stated it all happened because he was “being clowned on Facebook” and provided the messages. Victim 2 stated she actually used to date offender 1 and that could be why he has something against her and her current boyfriend/victim 1. Offender 1 was transported to EmCo Jail.

Officer was traveling behind a vehicle and noticed the tag expired this month and ran it to find that it expired on 10/2, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle came to a stop and the passenger got out and ran. Officer approached the driver side and made contact with the driver and asked who the passenger was and he stated he did not know – he was just giving him a ride. Officer then asked for his license and he stated he did not have them on him. Officer asked for his name and DOB. Once back-up arrived, the driver was asked to step out of the vehicle and officer could smell marijuana coming from his person. Officer asked if he could search him and he stated yes. Upon searching the vehicle, officer noticed a green leafy substance sitting on the middle console. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail. Officer could still smell marijuana and offender admitted it was under his testicles.

Officer observed a vehicle with very dark window tint, at which point he turned around and ran the tag to find that it had been suspended/expired registration. Officer then initiated his blue lights and the vehicle pulled over. Officer made contact with the driver and asked for his license and he stated the vehicle was not his and he left them in his vehicle. Officer could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and he stated he had not had anything to drink, then stated he drank one earlier. Offender was asked to blow into the PBT and registered .09. Offender was transported to SPD and administered the state administered breath test on the Intox and he blew two samples and was not charged with DUI due to the lowest sample being under .08 BRAC.
